I started where most coaches don't — embedded inside elite football clubs, working alongside coaching staff on the mental performance of professional athletes. Not as a consultant parachuted in, but as part of the staff. That proximity taught me things no textbook covers.
What I saw consistently was that the culture of a team always reflected the identity of its leaders. The best coaches weren't the most tactical — they were the most self-aware. They led from conviction, not approval. And their teams performed accordingly.
